ANTIOCH CEMETERY, Cherry Lake, Madison County, Florida
1578 NW Garlfowl. From US Highway 90 in Madison, go north 9.8 miles on FL Highway 53 to CR 253. Go west on CR 253 1.9 miles to a graded dirt road. Go north 1.3 miles to another dirt road. Go east .4 miles and cemetery is on the north side. It appears that there was once a church there. And, there is an Antioch Church not far away on FLA-53. Because of the manner in which this cemetery is laid out, there seems to be no good order in which to present the data. Graves are scattered in clusters about the cemetery and many are poorly marked or not at all. Bessie Roberta Hines (1897-1906) was a daughter of William Robert and Elizabeth Hampton Hines.
George Taylor Hines (1890-1922) was a son of William Robert and Elizabeth Hampton Hines.
Jake G. Lamb (1791-1867) came to Leon Co., FL from Camden Co., NC before 1839. Both he and his son, Isaac Newton Lamb, voted in the election for Statehood in Madison, FL in 1845. He was a member of the Legislature of North Carolina for a number of years. He was married to Sarah W. Bell.
According to Mrs. Kolner, the Lamb, Hampton and Hines families were connected by marriage in succeeding generations. These families were also connected to the Howland and Allen families of Madison, and to Walker, Raysor, McLeod and Anderson families of Jefferson Co. and Madison Co.

NORTON CREEK CEMETERY (aka ROWE-RUTHERFORD), Lee, Madison County, Florida
This cemetery is located on private property and permission must be gained before attempting to enter the property. The cemetery is protected but is not well maintained and it took a lot of hard work to even locate the tombstones to attempt to validate the data provided in the Madison County Cemetery Book. Dates and specific details are now extremely challenging to read. Photos of the tombstones are available. We express a tremendous thank you to Ann Cantlin for her help in gaining access to the cemetery and for her diligent help in identifying all the tombstones. Exceptions that we noted to the information in the book are highlighted below in italics:
http://files.usgwarchives.net/fl/madison/cemetery/nortonck.txt
Faircloth, Infant Daughter, 20 Nov 1886-20 Nov 1886
Faircloth, Martha Ann, 2 Sep 1834-31 Dec 1886
Harrell, Infant of Edward and Florence, 26 Feb 1903-26 Feb 1903 (the name of the mother is proving difficult to prove, Ancestry lists it as Florence on several documents (at least one is clearly Florence) and the tombstone is poorly written and appears to show as Flarnce. We will attempt to find their marriage record and see if it makes it clearer.
McDaniel, Thomas B., 2 Nov 1839-8 May 1898 (not really readable)
McPherson, Dallas P., died 15 Feb 1862 at the age of 17 years.
Mills, Luiza Ellen, wife of William H. Mills, 3 Dec 1866-9 Sep 1893
Phillips, Martha Jane, wife of James, 1 May 1888-1868 (Tombstone was buried under debris. This is believed to be Martha Jane Cone Phillips, daughter of Fountain Calvin and Anna Morris Cone, second wife of James Thomas Phillips. There is some discussion about whether she died in 1868 or 1901. Although we are still working to valdiate it, believe that James Thomas Phillips might have married for a third time, to Miss Sarah Frances Williams in 1870. Based on information provided by Ann Cantlin and Find A Grave, James Thomas Phillips is buried in the Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery, Marion Co., FL)
Phillips, Maryan, wife of Jas. Phillips, 13 Jun 1827-15 Apr 1861 (Tombstone was handwritted and had multiple letters reversed. This is believed to be Maryan Jane Stokley, first wife of James Thomas Phillips)
Phillips, Saloman, 1784 -1858 (born in Gopher County, NC, moved to FL in 1845, died 14 Apr 1858 in Madison). Supposedly buried beside him is his wife, Phillips, Ann Stubbs, 1807-Mar 1894.
[We were unable to locate a tombstone for this couple or any indication of where their gravesite might be located. There was however a tombstone for a Salomon Phillips, infant, born and died 1868 who appears to have been an infant of James Thomas and Martha Jane Cone Phillips. The tombstone was handwritten and multiple letters were reversed.]
Read, Nelson W., son of W.H. & J. Read, 20 Jan 1846-28 Nov 1863 (shows he was born at Port Dalhousie, Canada). We were unable to locate this tombstone or any indication of where his gravesite might be located.
Rowe, Coleman, 8 May 1812-26 Sep 1883
Rowe, Eliza, 19 Aug 1822-25 Jul 1889 (this appears to be Elizabeth Fletcher, wife of Coleman Rowe. They are found in the 1850-1880 Census documents for Madison County)
Rutherford, Adline, 1 Feb 1831-16 Oct 1902 (tombstone broken. She appears to have been Adeline Barker, wife of Jordan J. Rutherford, daughter of Moses and Ann Barker, see 1850 Census)
Rutherford, Elizabeth, 11 Jul 1800-13 Jan 1882 (this appears to be Elizabeth Smith, wife of Samuel Rutherford, mother fo Jordan J. Rutherford)
Rutherford, Jordan J., 24 Feb 1824-16 Apr 1900
Stokley, Annie, no dates (hand written, multiple letters reversed, shows name only)
Williams, James M., son of J. G. & Missouri Williams, 27 Mar 1879-28 Aug 1880. (James is shown in the 1880 US Census for Ellaville and Nortons Creek, living with his parents, James G. and Missouri Williams)
Williams, John R., son of J.X. & Z. N., 10 Dec 1881-23 Sep 1883 (tombstone broken and in multiple pieces)
Also found:
McDaniel, Clarisa A., 20 Sep 1822-Dec 189? (stone was found on the ground under leaves, near the grave site of Thomas P. McDaniel. It ws very similar to that of Thomas, both having the same dove at the top. 1860 US Census for Madison shows a Clarisa A. McDaniel born about 1821 in South Carolina, married to a Thomas C. McDaniel, planter. )
Williams, Jane, 10 Nov 1813-May 1888 (Tombstone was broken.)
